I have selected a few types of glasses because others are always there. We all know beer glasses, juice glasses, brandy glasses etc. There are new styles of brandy and spirits glasses nowadays but they are just too expensive. Just use your OLD FASHIONED glass for brandy and spirits. If you have money to waste then Mikasa and Riedel has good collection of glasses. Riedel glasses are very sleek and sexy, I love them hopefuly one day I will afford a few.


Red and white wine glass WINE
Red wine glasses tend to be larger than white wine, and are very round at the bottom. Nowadays there are Chardonnay glasses that are wider at the bottom, but forget about all those details. Just know that a glass that is larger and round is for any red wine; and you will do just fine.
White wine glasses tend to be a little thinner than red wine glasses. I can not explain much but I am sure you can see the difference by these two glasses on the left.

There some wine glasses that can be used for any kind of wine. These tend to be a medium size, what I would advise you to do is ask before buying. If you do not have money to buy two different kinds of wine glasses, is better to get multipurpose.

MULTIPURPOSE GLASSES
For water, Juice, wine, and the works!!! This is a way to go, you will save more money buy buying these glasses because you can use them for any drink. When I was served orange juice in a red wine glass, I believe they thought they were using multipurpose glass. As I mentioned above, please ask at the store before buying or the sales people and they will help you to find.

These glasses come in different colors. But it is better to get clear white glass, because most people prefer their wine to be served on a clear white glass.

CHAMPAGNE GLASS
I do love these glasses, nowadays they come in all sorts of styles. You can get these in plastic for very cheap; special for new year celebration. It is hard when you have a party and you want it to be classic but you can't afford champagne glasses for 30 people. Plastic is the way to go. If you are not a champagne person probably you may end up using these glasses once a year or on your anniversary. It is not bad to have a good set in your house if you can afford.

This is very important. I always make sure I have one of these in my house. It is not nice to serve ice from a bowl or a glass. Actually I believe you can get one from a dollar store too if you are in America or Canada. If you can afford it will not hurt at all.

Margarita and Martini

MARTINI
Many people serve martini on wine glasses. It is not as nice as using a martini glass. Martini glasses are almost in every store, in the west. Also do not forget to put an olive in your Martini. These glasses are very cheap nowadays.

MARGARITA
I only have one margarita glass in my house. This is because I never serve margarita. But many people love margarita, and margarita glasses are in every store nowadays. If you like margarita, then serve it well.
Some of these glasses are shorter, and known as Coupette glass. Coupette can also be used for fruit drinks and daiquiris, Pina Colada and Amaretto Ice Cream.

DESSERT BOWL
Good for ice creams, fruit salad, and many other. This is a fancy way to serve dessert, otherwise any bowl will do. I only have one of these because my daughter demanded for one. She prefer her desert on a fancy bowl. For my guest, they use normal bowls. But, if you want to be fancy in your house, these are good and beautiful. The bowl will make your dessert look yummy! The sise of the picture on the right is bigger than the actual size.

Highball Glass

HIGHBALL GLASS
I do not think I need to say much about this glass. I am sure we all have one of these at home. It is straight and tall used for many mix drinks, water, soft drinks and juices. Also use it for drinks like Bloody Mary, Blue spring, Screwdriver, Gin Sling etc.

OLD FASHIONED GLASS
Old fashioned have been there for years. Used to serve different kinds of drinks like Juices, mix drinks and cocktails. Use it cocktails like Gimlet, Black Russian etc.
